In spite of what we’ve all been taught,

there is no real authority on what ‘good’ writing is. 

What makes your work powerful is that it is the highest, purest expression of you. That is what impacts, what attracts, what lands, and what heals.

Soul Writing is about learning to trust your voice, not what anyone else says it ought to be. Embodied Editing addresses the resonance of your work, not its marketability.

What parts of your work match who you are? When are you writing for someone else, or saying things just because you think you should? That’s what we’ll uncover in this process.

What we’ll do:

  • We’ll sit together (on Zoom or in person) and you’ll read your work out loud. Doing this is powerful because you can literally feel its resonance in your own body.

  • We’ll meet regularly. We’ll do this together. You’ll never be on your own with a marked-up manuscript.

  • We’ll talk about what feels right, what flows, what feels excessive, or wanting, or misplaced, and—importantly—why.

    We’ll get an ever-deeper feeling for what works and what doesn’t, identifying themes you can take forward into your ongoing process. (You likely won’t need me for the whole thing. In fact, that’s kind of the goal.)

  • We’ll make sure your story stays in your heart, and lands in the hearts of all who read it. 

  • We’ll go at your pace. This is your soul on the page and, like anything birthed into the world, it’s going to take the time it takes. There will be neither rush or unnecessary slowness. We’ll make space for any feels that come up. 

What this service is not:

  • You lobbing your precious draft to an editor who wordlessly marks it up with red pen and sends it back to you to make a million ‘corrections.’ 

  • A process of bionically replacing the soul of your story to make it ‘marketable.’

  • An editing version of a Soul Writing group: 100% celebration and 0% critique. In other words, we’ll find stuff that doesn’t quite work, and we’ll address it!

A structure you can relax into

Kind of like a birthing plan, this process has to work for you and your creation, so we’ll architect it carefully.

We’ll feel into pacing the same way we feel into the writing itself, and come up with a timeframe that feels neither open-ended nor restrictive. This includes deciding whether to work through the end of the project, or for a set period of time.

No matter what, the structure will be solid so the essence of your creation can flow through it.
