What would I do if I were bold?

Have I ever been bold, I wonder. Maybe, a couple of times. Maybe never? I don’t think I am that bold—do you mean brave? Have I struck out on my own, cut my own path, or have I just moved along, shuffling in line waiting for my turn to present my passport to pass the gate?

I must admit, I waited in line for most of my life, ticket in hand, staring at the stern person in uniform hoping they will stamp my paperwork. I have waited for the fork in the road and it was up to me to make a choice: right or left? the high road or the low? yes or no? Make a decision, damn it!

And yes I did a few times that have made all the difference to me and a few other souls. Thank God, they are still alive and we celebrate together.

Other than that, I am mostly a meek mild man, whom many consider passive and shy. In this culture of aggressive people, I am no leader at all.
